I was lucky enough to photograph my first senior photo session in International Falls MN. While on vacation with family, I snuck away for an evening and explored downtown International Falls MN with my niece and had a blast.
Shooting Sessions In New Locations | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
Now, shooting sessions on vacations is not a new thing. I have photographed all of my nieces’ senior photo shoot while on vacation in Northern Minnesota. I even shot an extended photo session while in South Dakota last year. Shooting sessions in new places is a fun challenge, and forces me into new locations and trying new things.
If you haven’t been to International Falls MN, it is a cute little town on the Canadian Boarder. They have a charming downtown, with so many cute areas for pictures. We found so many cute spots in the little over an hour we spent walking around. It really is a great location for senior photo session in International Falls.
Mural Wall | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
I’m glad my nieces trust me with their sessions, and do all the things I ask, even when it seems a little questionable. My niece was a little concerned when I told her we were starting her senior photo session in International Falls in front of a popular mural in downtown. The last thing anyone wants in their pictures is a huge detailed mural that will overtake all the focus from them. For this spot, I had her seated on a concrete flower bed and on a black iron bench. We also took some shots during her senior photo session in International Falls right in front of the mural, but we photographed them at an angle where the colors of the mural were just barely visible in her images.
Random Cool Finds | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
Next, we found the most adorable old wood door for our senior photo session in International Falls. The details on the door were amazing, and added a great color and texture to our images.
Patio Party | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
While walking in downtown International Falls, we saw the cutest little patio area of a local restaurant. After getting permission from the employees, we took some images in the patio area. I loved the mix of looks this one spot gave us for our senior photo session in International Falls. The little blue bench, decorate rocks, flowers, patio enclosure and more were great backdrops for our senior photo session in International Falls.
Making The Most Of Normal Buildings | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
The next few spots we found were small, and offered less options, but were still great. I love the challenge of taking “normal” buildings or locations and shooting them in a way that ad interest and contrast to images and the senior photography gallery overall.
There was a neutral wall in an alley that was a light brown ship lap look.
Next we used my favorite “trust me it will look great” spots. These flowers were in a window flower box of a realtor office.
We found a cool tree with little red berries, that was a fun and different backdrop option. I love the contrast of all the branches against the senior, and the little pops of light sneaking in.
We found a white building, that was a great clean and simple backdrop for part of the session.
One Spots, Many Looks | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
While walking, I saw a beautiful planter with red flowers. It was fun using the planter and front of the building in a bunch of fun ways for our senior photo session in International Falls. I love the contract of the red flowers, and how different the same location can look from different angles.
Brick Walls | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
I am obsessed with cool brick walls, especially this one that we found during our senior photo session in International Falls. The colors were a muted brick tone, and were just enough texture for the background, but not too much that it would take attention away from the senior.
We had to use this wall for two different outfits during the senior photo session in International Falls too.
Wooden Details | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
We found a cute boat propped up as a decoration, and it was perfect for this senior photo session in International Falls. It was also close to this adorable little wood staircase. I love old wood, and the texture it brings to pictures.
Cabin On Rainy Lake | Senior Photo Session in International Falls MN
After being downtown, we headed back to the cabin we had rented for the week – which was amazing, and right on Rainy Lake. As the sun was setting, we found amazing little pockets of light in some bushed on the property. They are the perfect golden hour images to add to a senior photo session in International Falls.
We took pictures on the dock overlooking Rainy Lake – and Canada way back in the distance. I did have to edit my one little ones out of the background – they refused to stop swimming. That’s a downfall of a senior photo session in International Falls on vacation with family, my kiddos don’t get that mom is working while on vacation and refuse to stop the fun.
Shooting a senior photo session in International Falls was a blast – and I totally should do it more. We spend a lot of our summers in the area, and I could easily fit in some senior photo session in International Falls.
