Minneapolis Studio Newborn Session
Over the years, I have found that some of my clients have no idea of what to expect at their Minneapolis studio newborn session. Either this is their first baby, the first baby they are booking a newborn photography session for, or they used a different newborn photographer in the past – a lot of clients have questions on what to expect at the session.
Minneapolis Studio Newborn Session | Studio Visit
One of my favorite things to offer families with questions about a Minneapolis studio newborn session is a no obligation studio visit. Yep, before you even book a session, you can come visit the studio. You will see examples of images from a Minneapolis studio newborn session, see the props available in studio, look at the different prints and products I offer, and meet me. Of all the things that happen at the studio visit, in my opinion the most important part is when we get to meet each other. You are trusting me with your little one, in the first few days of their life, and trust me to give you images you love. I firmly believe that a good connection with your photographer is key to a Minneapolis studio newborn session that you love.
Minneapolis Studio Newborn Session | Before The Session
I know having a baby adds a lot to your plate, emotionally and physically. My goal is to make your Minneapolis studio newborn session as stress free as possible. Before the session I will send you a detailed guide on what to expect at your newborn session. I will also send you a short questionnaire that gets both you and I thinking about colors, poses, props, and more for your Minneapolis studio newborn session. You will also have access to all of this information before you book your newborn photography session, and well before baby is born.
Minneapolis Studio Newborn Session |Scheduling Your Session
Once baby is here, we will schedule your Minneapolis studio newborn session. Since new parents are busy, I send out a copy of my studio calendar and you can pick a session date and time that works for your baby. On top of being exhausted, I know newborn parents also have to plan around baby and mom doctor visits, family visits, and more. This way we avoid a bunch of emails or calls back and forth trying to schedule yours session. Once you pick your date and time, you are added to the studio calendar and your Minneapolis studio newborn session is booked.
Minneapolis Studio Newborn Session | Day Of The Session
The studio will be ready to welcome your family for your Minneapolis studio newborn session. I have refreshments on hand, because when my children were newborns I know I was so tired I would forget to eat or drink. I also have toys in the studio for siblings and Disney+.
If parents skipped the studio visit before booking their Minneapolis studio newborn session, this is also a great time for parents to look at the variety of props available while they settle in for the session.
Your Minneapolis studio newborn session will most likely start with family and sibling poses. I do this for a few reasons. I have found over the years that very few dads are thrilled about the idea of being in pictures. This lets me photograph them right away, and they know that they can sit back and relax for the rest of the Minneapolis studio newborn session. If there are older siblings, their images will also take place at the start of the session. In addition to poses with baby, I also love to give families individual images of their older children. As mom, I know it is nice to have up to date pictures of all of your kids, and the OCD photographer in me likes to give you pictures of all of the kids with the same lighting and normally a light background. That way they all display well together in your home.
After family poses, the Minneapolis studio newborn session focuses on baby alone poses. I like to start with wrapped poses of baby. This lets this settle a little, and get into a deep sleep. This also is a great time for me to photograph all of their little baby details: toes, eyelashes, fingers, hairlines, lips and more.
After wrapped poses, I like to move into prop poses. These are poses of your baby in a prop, like a wooden bowl, a basket, bucket, or more. I have a variety of options available of props, and parents always find a prop that they love and I beautifully incorporate it into their Minneapolis studio newborn session.
The last series of poses in the Minneapolis studio newborn session are ones of baby laying on a fabric backdrop. These can be done on a variety of color backdrops, or parents can also choose to keep things simple and use neutrals or just one backdrop for these poses. These are the traditional and most popular newborn poses, and the ones that most parents request.
The last part of a Minneapolis studio newborn session typically focuses on baby, and all those cute baby expressions. I love capturing all of the cute, funny, silly, and sometimes angry faces newborns make.
Minneapolis Studio Newborn Session | After The Session
Within 48 hours of your Minneapolis studio newborn session, sneak peeks will be posted on social media. This gives you a peek at what your finished gallery with look like, and also a great way to share the news of baby’s arrival with friends and family online.
Within 2 weeks of your session (normally sooner) you will see your full gallery. I offer two options on how to view your gallery.
The most popular option is to come back to the studio and view them with me. Families love the excitement of seeing the gallery from the Minneapolis studio newborn session on a big screen with refreshments. Older siblings love doing this, and get excited about every picture. Anyone is welcome to join you too. I have had grandparents, cousins, bonus parents, and more come with for the gallery viewing. Parents love going through the images one by one, getting my input on images and how to display them in their home.
At the viewing you will pick the digital images included in your session package. There is an option to purchase prints and products from your Minneapolis studio newborn session, but there is no requirement to do so.
The second option for viewing your gallery is to view the gallery at home. With this option, the gallery from your Minneapolis studio newborn session is emailed to you. You look through the images at home, select your included package images, and can purchase additional prints and products. Some of the products available in studio are not available in the online galleries.

You are welcome to print your images on your own, or order some of the unique and gorgeous products I offer in studio.
Your Minneapolis studio newborn session also includes a 20% discount on any session booked within 12 months of your newborn session.
