I was so glad this little girl came to visit me for her 1 year photography session at my Northfield photography studio.  Her family used to live in town, and were in town visiting with they drove by my Northfield photography studio and decided to squeeze in a session while they were in town.  And I am glad they did!  They are such an adorable family, and their daughter was such a happy 1 year old, that she made my job easy.

Northfield photography studio | Family Pictures First

My Northfield photography studio is a little different that others in the area and what they offer for child or milestone session.  I will gladly include a few family pictures in with a session.  As a mom, I know a lot of these big milestones are just as important for parents as they are for the child.  These are big steps on the parenthood journey, and it is important that the entire family document them together.

First we started with mom and child portraits.  I love including a mix of more posed pictures and some relaxed or candid ones.  It’s a great way to add come variety to sessions at my Northfield photography studio.

Next was dad’s turn.  Dad’s are always the best in sessions.  I am convinced they secretly love these sessions at my Northfield photography studio, and sneaking in little hugs and kissed with their child.

Lastly we got some pictures of the entire family together.   They are so adorable, and I love how you can see the love between them.  It radiated through them, and was easy to capture in their images during the 1 year photography session at my Northfield photography studio.

Northfield Photography Studio | High Chair Pictures

One of the most popular backdrop and prop options at the Northfield photography studio is this cute highchair.  It is a simple set up, but also one that lets their little one’s personality shine during the milestone session.  It is also one of my favorite milestone session props.  It has been a staple in milestone sessions for years. And one year olds love being in it – but they all seem to think that it is time to eat once they get in it.  Which can make for some great faces as they grow from excited to upset the longer they are in the chair without treats.   Don’t worry, they do get snacks while in the high chair – they seem to always want more.  My Northfield photography studio is fully stocked with child friendly snacks, if parents forget to pack some for their little one.

Northfield Photography Studio | Baby Swing

One of the newest additions to the Northfield photography studio is this adorable little swing. Babies love it.  It is a great way to get adorable, fun, faces from one year olds.  They all love the swing, and it instantly bring smiles out of them, and some silly faces and body movements.  This swing is from The Newborn Nerds, a newborn photography sister duo out of Iowa that also seems great props.  The swing has become a favorite for milestone sessions at the Northfield photography studio in the last few months.

Northfield Photography Studio | Window Backdrop

I am a huge fan of clean, white, and simple sessions.  Especially for milestone sessions.  It is a great way to let these little ones be the focus of milestone photography sessions.   The large windows at my Northfield photography studio make for a great backdrop option.  I love this little corner of the studio with while walls, white floor, and soft window light.  It’s such a sweet and simple backdrop for little ones.

One of the fun parts of owning my Northfield photography studio is adding adorable props to my prop collection.  This beautiful quilt is a find from a local antique store, and one of my favorite ways to add a splash of color to set ups, but keeping it in a style that is still simple and doesn’t tale attention off children during their portrait sessions.

Northfield Photography Studio | Bring Those Lovies

One of my favorite ways to add a personal touch to milestone sessions at my Northfield photography studio is to have families bring a personal item to photograph their children with during the session.  All kids have they special lovie, a stuff animal, blanket, or well loved doll.  They are the little things that can make these milestone portraits even more special years down the road.  Kids will love to look back at these pictures when they are older, and see their favorite lovie, and how much they loved them.  There is no hug tighter than the hug from a little kid to their favorite toy. It is a special kind of love, and one that I love being able to capture families during their visit to my Northfield photography studio.
