Farmington Newborn Photography Session
I was so excited that schedules worked, and I was able to sneak this little guy in for a Farmington newborn photography session. Between the studio calendar, this family’s commitments, and other summer activities, we only had a few days to pick from – but we made it happen, and I am so glad I did. He was perfect, and his parents are the sweetest people ever.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Mom Poses
I like to start the Farmington newborn photography session with parent poses, specifically with mom. I love the way babies snuggle into mom when she holds them, and usually baby falls into a deep sleep.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Dad Poses
After poses with mom, the next pose usually in a Farmington newborn photography session is baby with dad. Dad poses are a favorite of mine. I love the contrast between the little baby and dad’s hands. It really captures just how little these babies are right after birth, and gives parents a great memory of just how baby looks in their hands.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Parent Poses
After poses of baby alone with mom and dad, I move into parent poses next. This is a fun part of a Farmington newborn photography session, since I get to offer both a traditional family pose and a more modern take on them.
For traditional family poses during the studio newborn photography session, are just that. Traditional poses of the family, with everyone looking at the camera smiling.
For non-traditional poses, I like to add some variety to the traditional poses. Little variations like mom and dad snuggling into each other, or turning their bodies can change the whole feel of the image.
My favorite modern variation of the traditional family pose is to take the image of the family as a profile silhouette. This lets their family still be the focus of the session, but also allowing their family portrait to take on a more artful feeling and provides a stand out piece of wall art for their family.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Little Baby Beds
Of my the most popular props I have in the studio for a Farmington newborn photography session are these little beds. They are perfectly sized for baby, and lets me pose and style baby in adorable ways that always look like they enjoying a peaceful nap.
This brown set up was a request from mom, and I love it. It adds some great variety and texture to the Farmington newborn photography session without being too bright and taking away from baby.
This bamboo bed and blue styling is a popular choice in the studio too. It is a great variation of a wooden newborn bed during a Farmington newborn photography session. The color blue mom picked was perfect for this prop styling too.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Buckets
It’s no secret that my favorite newborn photography props in the studio for newborn sessions are buckets. I have a variety of bucket styles and colors, and parents are always able to find the perfect style bucket for their baby boy newborn photography session.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Macro
Capturing all those little bay details in a newborn photography session is a must. I am such a sucker for these pictures too. I love documenting all little all of baby’s features were when they were freshly born.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | White Flokati Rug
This flokati rug is one of the oldest props in the studio. I have honestly had it forever, and still love it just as much as when I first added it to the prop collection. It’s so big, soft, and fluffy. This family really wanted to incorporate their son’s first teddy bear into their newborn photography session, and this rug styling was the perfect way to do that. He is so adorable cuddled up with his teddy bear. And I love this idea. What a fun thing for their son to look back at in the pictures from their Farmington newborn photography session and see his teddy bear that he’s grown up with.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Bean Bag Poses
When families book their Farmington newborn photography session, these are the types of pictures most parents are looking for. They want the traditional posed newborn photography style session and they are the most popular newborn poses. Poses like tooshie up, froggy, head on hands, slide sleeper and more are the poses most people think of when they think of newborn photography sessions. I love to still include these traditional newborn photography poses into a Farmington newborn photography session too.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Moro Reflex
While capturing the moro reflex (basically baby’s startle response) isn’t always something I do in a session, or include in a gallery for a newborn photography session if I do get a picture of it – but this little guy’s arms were too cute not to include. If I was more tech savvy, I would make these into a little GIF of him dancing. As a baby boy photographer in Northfield MN, I love adding these pictures that capture personality to the session gallery.
Farmington Newborn Photography Session | Headshots
I love capturing these baby headshots. They are such a fun way to end a Farmington newborn photography session. And this little baby boy’s facial expressions did not disappoint! He was hilarious and had some of the best headshots I have photographed in a while.
