I’m not going to lie, being a Minneapolis baby photographer is one of the best jobs ever. Not only do I get to snuggle and photograph newborn babies all day, but I also get to meet some of the most amazing families. I can’t believe how amazing all of the families have been. I am even more shocked when I have families that pick me as their Minneapolis baby photographer and travel a long distance for it. Traveling a long distance, with a newborn, to have me as their Minneapolis baby photographer is a huge compliment. I appreciate all of my client families, near and far, but the ones willing to spend an hour or more in the care just to hang out with me at my Northfield photography studio specializing in newborn photography are extra special and amazing.
Minneapolis Baby Photographer | Siblings
Adding a new baby to the family is a huge change for everyone, especially older siblings, and especially families that are adding a second child and completely changing the family dynamic for that older sibling. They have spent years being the only kid. Now they are suddenly competing for attention, and their world is upside down. As a Minneapolis newborn baby photographer, and a mom myself, I like to take some time just for the older sibling. This gives them a little special time to celebrate them. Celebrate being a big sibling, and let them have a little part of the newborn session that is just for them. I usually start sessions with “Big Sister” pictures. Here I ask the older sibling all about them. All of my attention is on them, and getting great pictures of them. They all love having this little moment to themselves, away from parents and baby, where they are the center of attention, and don’t feel like a third wheel while the baby gets all of the attention from the Minneapolis baby photographer.
Minneapolis Baby Photographer | Sibling Poses
Nest we move into just sibling and baby. This lets me talk to them about the baby, ask silly questions about the baby. For sure I will ask if baby stinks, and if they can run as fast as a cheetah, every session. Little kiddos love those questions for some reason, and always laugh. As a mom and Minneapolis baby photographer, one of my priorities for other new parents adding a sibling to the family is a sibling picture. I want them to have a great picture of both (or all if they are adding 3, 4, 5, or 6th kiddo to the family).
Minneapolis Baby Photographer | Rainbow Babies
Any baby that has a session with me as their Minneapolis baby photographer and is a rainbow baby, is offered a variety of rainbow baby photography props to add into their session. Rainbow babies hold a special place in my heart, and I love being able to celebrate their arrival with parents. If you want to learn more about my Year of Rainbows Project, and the free newborn photography sessions for Minnesota rainbow babies, you can read more about it on my page.
Minneapolis Baby Photographer | Neutral Props
Hand down, my favorite colors to photograph newborn on as a Minneapolis baby photographer is white. Not just white, but off whites and creams. I love how they allow baby to be the focus of the photographs. The colors don’t take any attention from baby. I also love it because no matter how the decor changes in your home over the years, these colors will always look good displayed in your home. This white drop from Hello Little, is a favorite and one of the most popular drops I use in girl newborn photography sessions. The long term way to display your images from out session is a huge priority for me, and something we will discuss in detail as your Minneapolis baby photographer session.
Minneapolis Baby Photographer | Bright Colors and Floral Designs
I love my neutrals, but that doesn’t mean I don’t offer more colors. I have backdrops for your newborn in a huge variety of colors, and the full spectrum of the rainbow. I also have a lot of adorable floral designed drops in colors (and neutrals) as another way to add some color and texture to your sessions. One of my downfalls as a Minneapolis baby photographer business owner is having too many props. Yep, that’s a real thing, and sometimes moms have a hard time deciding which colors or floral backdrops to use in their sessions. Don’t worry, we always narrow it down, but the choices can be overwhelming at first. As a Minneapolis baby photographer I recommend 2-3 bright colors to add to your neutrals, and ones that compliment each other. That way all of your images will look great displayed together on the walls of your home.
