This newborn photography session with a Minneapolis Baby is one of my favorites. Not only was the family, especially their newborn baby girl, adorable, but they wanted a simple stripped down session. Mom wanted only white used for props, and preferred black and white images. Anyone that has had a newborn session with me knows that those are two things I love. Simple neutral colors that allow your family to be the focus of the images, and black and white images that will always display well in your home and somehow show off more emotion than color images.
Newborn Photography Session with a Minneapolis Baby | Family Poses
I like to start all sessions with parent poses, and this newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby was no exception. We started with mom alone images. These images are always my favorites. It is a little moment where mom gets to snuggle in on her newborn baby girl, and capture their amazing bond.
The next images for this newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby were with dad. A close second to mom and baby poses and poses of dad alone with baby. I love the contrast between these big strong dads, and the teeny tiny newborn babies. I love capturing just how tiny newborn babies are when posed in dad’s hands. It is also a great way to document in a newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby just how small their newborn was. Because after two children myself, I am convinced that parents are too exhausted in those first few months to have the ability to form true memories of just what their newborn was like.
Family poses are the next set of poses in a flow for a newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby. I like to poses families in a more traditional pose, with everyone looking at the camera. I also like to have some images of them looking at their newborn baby. I also like to add in ones that capture the bond between mom and dad, while keeping for focus on baby.
My favorite parent poses right now are these backlit poses of parents with baby. They are a modern take on the family portrait, have a more artistic feel to them, but also keep the same feeling as the rest of the images in the newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby galley.
Newborn Photography Session with a Minneapolis Baby | Wrapped Newborn Poses
This little newborn girl was getting a little wild, and needed to be swaddled and fed. After she had a full belly, she was ready to move onto the nest part of her newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby. I kept her wrapped, and did poses both on my fabric drops, and also in props. It gives a nice variety to wrapped poses, and allowed her some time to relax and fall into a deep sleep, and ready for more posed images as we continued her newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby. It was also a great time to use this beautiful chunky knit layer I made with yarn from my favorite local yarn store, Northfield Yarn.
Newborn Photography Session with a Minneapolis Baby | Traditional Posed Newborn Images
I love taking a few minutes during a newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby to capture sweet close up images of their newborn baby features. These little newborn feet, hands, nose, and hairlines change so quickly. I like giving parents a way to remember just how teeny their newborn baby was at their newborn photography session.
Almost all parents that come in for a newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby want the traditional poses of their baby posed on a backdrop, with their little bum in the air. This pose is called “bum up” with in the photography community, and that is exactly what it is. This newborn girl was so perfect and curled right into her pose
Newborn Photography Session with a Minneapolis Baby | Awake Newborn Images
By this point of the newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby, this newborn girl was done sleeping and her feisty side came out. And I loved it. I love incorporating some awake poses into my newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby as a way to give parents images of how they normally see their baby. Parents love awake images because that is how their see their newborn at home most of the time, because lets be real. As soon as your newborn is sleeping, you are either sleeping yourself or off getting some household task done that you can’t while they are awake. Their nap time is valuable time for parents to get things done. That also means that parents are used to seeing all of the funny awake faces. Making those images a favorite in newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby galleries. This little baby girl was a riot, and had some of the best faces I have seen in a newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby recently.
She also had some amazing “jazz hands” that she was showing off during her newborn photography session with a Minneapolis baby too. Her little hand and arm moments in these images still make me laugh when I see them. There is a lot of personality jammed into that little body.
