Northfield Family Photography Session | Outdoor Session
This Northfield family photography session took place at one of my favorite locations in Northfeld. I love it so much, and that I won’t even say where the location is. So all you Northfield family photography session clients are the only ones that know where it is. The location is great mix of backdrops. Tall grasses, tall trees, a little pine tree forest, and more. It’s also easy to access, out of sight from playgrounds (which is a must for my Northfield family photography session locations). Things go badly fast when little ones seen a playground and get told no when they ask to play on it. It’s so much easier to avoid the meltdown altogether at my family photography sessions and pick a location like this.

While the focus on the session is the family as a who, I like to make sure I take time to focus on just the kids at a Northfield family photography session. I always make sure to get pictures of all of the children alone. It is also important to me to get pictures of them alone in the same location so when the pictures are hung on the wall, they all are cohesive. I also make sure to include pictures of just the kids together, a nice sibling only picture for their Northfield family photography session.

Then I get family poses in the same spot for my Northfield family photography session. Again, it’s important to me to think about the long term plan for these images, and how they all will look displayed together on a wall or album after the session. I also like to give families some variety on background options. That way they can display different images form the session throughout the home, without them all looking so similar.
I also like to include some parent only images in a Northfield family photography session. It’s a great way to get mom and dad lone, and also gives them a chance to get pictures as a couple. So many families comment on how they don’t have pictures of them as a couple since their wedding. Really, no good pictures of them as a couple since they got married, how many years ago that was. Moms and dads need pictures that focus on them alone too, and the love between them that is the foundation for their family, and on full display during the Northfield family photography session.

This family was also one of my amazing newborn photography clients at my Northfield MN Photography Studio. I had to take some updated pictures of this little guy at the Northfield family photography session, and so much much he had changed over the last few months. I can’t believe how much he has changed in what seems like just weeks. He has so much personality, and I wanted to make sure I included that in the Northfield family photography session. And as a mom, I am a sucker for mom and baby pictures. Moms need to be in pictures more, and interacting with their kids. I love being able to capture these little moments for all of my photography families.

If you are a parent, then you know that all kids ( at all ages ) have that point when they are done. Just done with whatever you are doing, they slowly build to a meltdown and end up grump. This guy was no different. When he was over the photography session, he has no problem letting us all know!
