First Birthday Photography Session in Minnesota | Baby’s First Year Photo Sessions

I have photographing this little girl since she was a baby so I was thrilled that even thought they have moved out of the country, that her parents had her first birthday photography session in Minnesota.  She’s come in for a total of three sessions with me.  He newborn session, a 6 month photography session, and this session to celebrate her first birthday.

We stated her session in the cutest first birthday photography session in Minnesota outfit.  She had a huge puffy white skirt, and a little crown with a number 1 on it.  Even though she had been in the studio a few times before her session, she was still a little slow warming up to me.  But that is also totally normal. When kids come into a session, it seems to be the norm that they take a while to warm up to the location and me.  Just remember that kids this age are in that stranger danger stage still, and new places can make then uncomfortable.  I am also a new person, holding a big black camera, doing crazy thigs to try and get them to smile, and they usually have parents helping with smiles too.  I always encourage letting baby and I have a little time alone as we easy into their first birthday photography session in Minnesota.

If you follow my work at all, you know a favorite studio set for first birthday photography session in Minnesota is my all white bed.  It’s been a studio staple for milestone sessions for years.  Kids love it too. I think it  is because of all the things in the studio a bed with blankets and pillows is something they recognize.

Another popular backdrop for first birthday photography session in Minnesota is my wood floor and backdrop.  The simple wooden backdrops add some dimension and depth to the images without being a background that is overly busy and takes away from the child.   She also loved my little bamboo bed.  It is a different type of open from the norm in the studio, and seemed like a perfect drop on this brown wooden backdrop.

One of the newest additions to the studio is this adorable crochet footstool or chair.  It is adorable!  It also looks a lot bigger than it is with this sweet little girl sitting on it.  I have a feeling it will become a session staple for my future first birthday photography session in Minnesota.

First Birthday Photography Session in Minnesota | Green Chair

One of my favorite studio chairs (and yes, I do have a lot of them), is this green chair.  I just happened to see it at one of my favorite stores in Northfield MN, and had to have it.  It is the best green colors, not too bright but also has enough color that it doesn’t look off white.  It is also a great color for both boys and girls during their first birthday photography session in Minnesota.  And it was an adorable color pairing with her pink dress that mom and dad brought.  I love her dress!  It’s so sweet and feminine, and the dusty pink color is beautiful.

I recently got this little bear outfit for sessions, and love that mom and dad picked it as her last outfit for her first birthday photography session in Minnesota.   I love everything about it!  The little ears on the bonnet and leg warmers kill me.  I never knew legwarmers were so adorable!  I might make all one year old’s ear this outfit at their one year photography session at my Northfield MN studio.
