FAQ: What’s the fee for using your studio?

What’s the fee for using your studio?

When a family recently reached out to book a session, they asked a question I actually hear more often than you might think: “What’s the fee for using your studio?”

It made me smile a little because the answer is simple: there isn’t one.

I completely understand why they asked. Many photographers rent studio space by the hour, and that cost often gets passed on to clients as a separate fee. So naturally, families expect that booking a studio session means an added expense.

But my setup is different, and intentionally so.

I run my own dedicated photography studio, and that means when you book a session with me, the studio is included. No extra fees, no surprise add-ons, no juggling schedules with rental spaces. Just a calm, prepared environment that’s ready for you the moment you walk in.

And honestly? That decision has completely changed the experience I can offer families.

Why I Chose to Have My Own Studio | What’s the fee for using your studio?

This wasn’t something I jumped into overnight. Like many photographers, I started out working in homes, outdoors, and occasionally renting studio spaces when needed. And while those options can absolutely work, I kept running into the same challenges:

  • Limited time windows
  • Unpredictable lighting
  • Hauling props and gear back and forth
  • And the biggest one—feeling rushed

When you rent a studio, you’re always on the clock. Every minute matters, and that pressure trickles down into the session itself. That’s not the kind of experience I wanted for the families I work with—especially for newborn and milestone sessions, where patience and flexibility are everything.

So, I made the decision to create a space of my own.  It’s my little home away from home.

A place where everything is already set up, thoughtfully designed, and completely under my control.

And most importantly, it is a place where families can walk in, take a breath, and feel taken care of.

No Studio Fee = No Added Stress | What’s the fee for using your studio?

Let’s start with the obvious perk: you’re not paying extra just to have a studio session.

But beyond the financial side, there’s something even more valuable, simplicity.

When you book with me, you don’t have to think about:

  • Whether the studio is available
  • How long we’ll have access to it
  • What happens if baby needs extra time
  • Or if we need to reschedule due to illness or weather

It’s already handled.

Your session is scheduled based on what works best for your family, not based on a rental clock ticking in the background.

Full Control = A Better Experience for You | What’s the fee for using your studio?

One of the biggest advantages of having my own studio is control.  Control over lighting, temperature, setup, and timing.

That might not sound exciting at first, but it makes a huge difference in your experience.

Lighting:
I don’t rely on whatever lighting a rented space happens to have that day. I’ve designed my studio lighting specifically for newborns, babies, and families with lighting that is soft, flattering, and consistent.

Temperature:
For newborn sessions especially, the studio is kept warm and comfortable. Babies stay sleepy and content, and parents don’t have to worry about bringing extra layers or adjusting to an unfamiliar environment.

Noise & Environment:
There’s no background chaos, no other photographers coming and going, no distractions. It’s quiet, calm, and private.

Timing:
We are not rushed. If your baby needs to eat, be soothed, or just take a break, that’s completely okay. We move at your baby’s pace.  It is rare for me to have sessions scheduled back-to-back.  I schedule buffer time between sessions to prep for any unknowns.

Privacy Matters More Than You Think | What’s the fee for using your studio?

This is something parents don’t always think about until they experience it, but having a completely private studio is a game-changer.

When you come in, it’s just us.

No shared waiting rooms.
No overlapping sessions.
No feeling like you’re being watched or hurried along.

For new parents, especially, that privacy is everything. You can feed your baby, take breaks, and just exist without feeling like you’re in someone else’s space.

It creates a completely different atmosphere, one that feels safe, relaxed, and personal.  My space does share a kitchen and bathroom with other tenants in the building. But other than that, it’s completely private.

A Fully Stocked Studio (So You Don’t Have To Bring Everything) | What’s the fee for using your studio?

One of the biggest surprises for families is just how much is already here waiting for them.

You don’t need to show up with bags of outfits, blankets, or props. I’ve spent years carefully curating everything we might need for a session.

Inside the studio, you’ll find:

  • A wide variety of wraps and swaddles in soft, neutral tones
  • Headbands, bonnets, and simple accessories
  • Blankets and layers for texture and depth
  • Carefully selected props for newborn posing
  • Backdrops for family and milestone sessions
  • Newborn, milestone, and maternity outfits.
  • Seating and setups designed specifically for flattering, natural images

Everything is chosen with intention, so your images feel timeless, not trendy.

And the best part? You don’t have to figure any of it out on your own.

I guide you through everything, what to wear, what to expect, and how it all comes together. As a mom myself, my goal is to make the session as stress-free as possible.

Why You Should Book a Maternity Photography Session

Everything Is Clean, Organized, and Ready | What’s the fee for using your studio?

Another benefit of having my own studio is consistency.

Every item is cleaned, organized, and prepared between sessions. I know exactly where everything is, and I know it’s ready to go.

There’s no last-minute scrambling.
No missing pieces.
No wondering if something will work.

That level of preparation allows the session to flow smoothly, and it keeps the focus where it belongs: on your family.

A Stress-Free Experience (From Start to Finish) | What’s the fee for using your studio?

If I had to sum up the biggest advantage of having my own studio, it would be this:

It allows me to create a truly stress-free experience.

From the moment you book to the moment you walk out the door, everything is designed to be simple and easy for you.

You don’t have to:

  • Plan out complicated logistics
  • Bring a car full of items
  • Worry about timing or delays
  • Or feel like you need to “perform” during the session

You just show up. And I take care of the rest.

Why This Matters—Especially for Newborn Sessions | What’s the fee for using your studio?

Newborn sessions are a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Those early days go by so quickly, and they’re often filled with exhaustion, adjustment, and a lot of unknowns.

The last thing you need is added stress.

Having a dedicated studio means I can create an environment that supports you during that stage, not one that adds pressure.

It gives you space to slow down, to trust the process, and to actually enjoy capturing these moments.

So… Why Don’t I Charge a Studio Fee? | What’s the fee for using your studio?

Because I’ve already built it into the experience.

This isn’t an add-on. It’s not an upgrade. It’s just part of how I do things.

I want every family to have access to a beautiful, calm, fully prepared space, without feeling like it’s something extra they have to justify or budget for.

Final Thoughts | What’s the fee for using your studio?

That simple question, “What’s the studio fee?”, is actually a great reminder of how different every photography experience can be.

For me, having my own studio isn’t just about convenience. It’s about creating something better for the families I work with.

A place where you feel comfortable.
A place where everything is ready for you.
A place where your only job is to show up and enjoy the moment.

And that’s exactly what I want every session to feel like.
